Hey Team! My name is Leigha Braaten (pronounced Lee-uh Bra-ten), and I'm going to be one of your leaders this summer, ya'll! I am from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and I currently live in Norman, Oklahoma in a house with 2 of my best friends, and work as a teacher assistant in a room for kids with Autism at an Elem. School. I'm in love with my job and the kids that I work with. 

    I went to Nicaragua last year with AIM in January and came back in May. God wrecked my heart for the people, showed me true community, and in the midst of that my life was changed. Now I am extremely blessed with the opportunity to get to be apart of your big adventure. I have been praying for our team. 

    I love the culture of Central America. I am still pretty rusty at Spanish, and I have forgotten a lot that I learned while in Nicaragua. But, I most likely will still try and fail at using the Spanglish that I do know. I am stoked that Guatemala is our country! I have an obsession with maps. I have a tattoo of an airplane on my wrist. I enjoy nothing more than being outdoors. (get ready for chaco tan line competitions, okay?) I love mountains, rain, hiking, biking, and just enjoying God's creations. I enjoy listening to music, and watercolor painting/crafting in my free time. I am very "punny" and if you say any puns I will think that you are the funniest person in the world. My two favorite words are "intentional" and "community" so i'm sure you guys will get sick of me saying them ha. 

    I am just really eager and ready to get to know every one of you, grow with you spiritually, and become a family. If you have any questions, please ask. I know how overwhelming everything can be in this next month.
